So often, I feel like the salmon swimming up stream against the current. I swim harder and harder. Paddling around negativity, sadness, frustration, despair and pain, I try to dodge the evils of the world flying at me in life's swift current. But, then I look ahead and I see an eagle soaring above me, a weeping willow letting its leaves float in the wind, and a praying mantis encouraging me to go on. Hope moves all around me through God's creation.
Like the salmon, God created us to be different, even peculiar (according to the Bible). He encourages us to stand out, be a light, even make the unpopular choice. Swim, swim, swim--- with your eyes on Jesus.
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. —Romans 15:4
